Election Campaign phase 1
“Cleanliness is not a function of how rich or poor you are, but that of mentality and principle ”
Dehradun, one of the most magnificent valleys of the country, is known for it’s exquisite beauty and cleanliness but the Uttrakhand Legislative Assembly elections are proving to be bane to Dehradun’s radiance. The most heated campaigh of the country by our Hon’ble Prime Minister, the SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAAN, is being violated by his very own party, not to talk about the other political organisations defaming the public and government buildings of the city.
Every political party, on an average spends an enormous amount of 20 to 25 lakhs on election campaigning in the form of posters, stickers , pamphlets and flexes in a city. These pamphlets and posters also serve the purpose of influencing the masses visually and hence, increasing the vote bank unethically.
Another thing that should draw one’s attention is the constant wastage of paper for printing such pamphlets which directly involves the felling of trees, and hence is definitely posing a threat to our environment.
Is this the city we all dream of living in? Are we really following the “Clean Doon, Green Doon” motto? Be the change you want to see in the world! We the youth can make a difference and therefore BEHBOOD THE SOCIETY initiated the campaign by cleaning areas near Clock Tower and Dispensary Road. We aim at making our Doon clean and green again.
